Alcohol and Drugs
No alcohol or illegal drugs will be tolerated on any tour. Failure to follow this policy will result in termination of the tour and forfeiture of your booking fees. Your guides are responsible for your safety while on the water. Drugs and alcohol not only endanger yourself, but everyone else on the tour.
If your guide must call for assistance during the tour because a participant is judged by the guide to be under the influence of or in possession of drugs or alcohol, that participant is liable for paying all associated rescue and transportation costs.
Medical Conditions
If you have a potentially serious medical condition, consult with your doctor before booking a tour. Please note that professional medical responders may be far from tour locations. You must have a reasonable level of confidence in your physical ability to complete the tour you booked. All of our tours can be completed with little to no experience in kayaking, however they do require sustained physical exertion.
No woman in her third trimester of pregnancy may participate in a tour. Any pregnant women should first consult with their doctor before participating.
Safety
All tours begin with a safety and basic technique lesson. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of your tour and be prepared to participate in this instruction.
While capsizing a kayak is unlikely, it is a scenario you must be ready for. Your guide will give you advice on how to be more stable in the kayak. In the event of a capsize, your guide will give instructions and assist you on how to get back inside the kayak, then help pump enough water out of your cockpit so you can get safely to shore. Even with assistance it takes some physical strength to re-enter a kayak. As an example, If you are unable to easily exit the deep end of a swimming pool without using a ladder, please let your guide know.
While tours are issue-free the vast majority of the time, please be aware of the potential dangers of lightning, cold water, and delayed access to emergency services. These will all be explained in greater detail by your guide. If you have specific concerns, please do not hesitate to ask your tour guide.
If your guide must call for assistance during the tour because of the tour participant’s noncompliance with their instructions, that participant is liable for paying all associated rescue and transportation costs.
