5/31/2022 – Geneva, NY, A Destination for Elite Athletes
I had the pleasure of kayaking with two athletes from the Orlando area on Tuesday. The couple, originally from upstate New York, was here to take a break from training. They were scouting the location of the Ironman 70.3 Musselman triathlon. A steady NW wind propelled us across the north end of Seneca Lake. We entered the Cayuga-Seneca canal and took a break admiring the marina and different facilities Seneca Lake Park offers.
The athletes were very excited about competing in Geneva. They encouraged me to organize a kayak race to bring even more attention to the athletic community. As we paddled back to the Finger Lakes Welcome Center, a windsurfer rode the waves 20 yards away driven by a steady headwind.
We took many great photos of the various race locations as we glided back into the public docks. It was an amazing paddle with two amazing athletes with a new appreciation for Geneva as a destination for elite athletes.
